In order to operate transfers, you need drivers. Below is a quick guide to our driver onboarding process, as well as best practices that we would recommend as Welcome Pickups:

Number of Drivers to add

Before we add drivers it is important to consider how many drivers you might need. As a minimum, we advise at least 2-3 drivers. While you can add as many drivers as you would like to our system, our interview process means that you might experience delays in activation of drivers if many are added in one sitting. As such, we would then recommend adding more drivers based on the number of transfers you receive on a daily basis. The Welcome Pickups team is best placed to support here.

Driver Information

Ensure you provide complete and accurate information about the driver, including their name, unique email, unique phone number, license details, English proficiency level, and a clear photo.

It is important that each driver provides a unique email address as it is needed for setting up their account on the Driver App, and for recovering their password if needed.

Interview and Activation

After adding the driver, a short interview will need to be conducted with one of our Driver Quality specialists before activation. This step is crucial to ensure the driver understands our policies and our standards.

Responsiveness and Timeliness

Drivers are expected to be responsive and complete required lessons within 5 days. Failure to do so may result in non-onboarding, and we'll need to proceed with another driver from your fleet.

Communication Channel

During the onboarding process, all communication with drivers will be done through WhatsApp. Please ensure that drivers have WhatsApp installed on their devices to facilitate seamless communication. Driver Onboarding Best Practices from Welcome Pickups

  • Double-check information: Accuracy in the details you provide is essential for a smooth onboarding process. Once you have added the driver’s details, they cannot be edited without help from the Welcome Pickups team, so please try to be as accurate as possible!

  • Professional Photos please!: Please ensure that the driver photo used for a driver is a professional photograph with sufficient lighting so that it is clearly recognizable as the driver.

  • Encourage responsiveness: Prompt responses from drivers ensure timely completion of lessons and a faster onboarding process.

  • Unique Email and WhatsApp Requirement: Verify that each driver is registered with a unique email address and WhatsApp number on their devices for effective communication

  • Keep information updated: Please remember to keep driver and car licenses updated to prevent any disruption to your operations.

  • Try and keep the same pool of drivers: In general, we would advise you to perform Welcome transfers with a consistent and concentrated pool of drivers. This is to ensure that our team is familiar with your drivers, and so that your drivers are also familiar with our team and policies.
